The Villamagna joined the official list of typical Italian products with the certification DOC (denomination of controlled origin) that was released on 30 November 2011.
Being a DOC certification requires that the entire production process must be carried out in the region of Abruzzo.
The production area of ​​the grapes used to produce wine Villamagna DOC includes the land the entire territory of the municipality of Villamagna and the bordering territories of the municipalities of Bucchianico and Vacri in Chieti Province.
The DOC Villamagna is reserved to red wine, even in the “Reserve”.
The wine Villamagna DOC when released for consumption must have the following characteristics:
– Color: intense ruby ​​red, tending towards garnet with aging;
– Odor: fruity, intense and distinctive;
– Taste: full, dry, harmonious;
– Minimum alcohol content: 13% vol.
The wine Villamagna Reserve DOC when released for consumption must have the following characteristics:
– Color: intense ruby ​​red, tending to garnet with aging;
– Odor: fruity, intense, sometimes ethereal and spicy;
– Taste: full, dry, harmonious;
– Minimum alcohol content: 13,50%.
Grapes:
– Varietal Montepulciano at least 95%;
– Can compete grapes of other red grapes, non-aromatic, suitable for cultivation in the region of Abruzzo up to a maximum of 5%.
Serving temperature: around 18 ° C – 20 ° C.
Serving suggestions: pasta with meat sauce Abruzzo is white meat.
