The Colli of Etruria Centrale joined the official list of typical Italian products with the certification DOC (denomination of controlled origin) that was released July 7, 1997.
Being a DOC certification requires that the entire production process should be made in the Tuscany region.
The DOC Colli of Etruria Centrale is reserved for wines in the Rosso, Rosato, Bianco, Novello, Vin Santo, Vin Santo Riserva, Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice and Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice Reserve.
The production area of ​​the grapes used to produce the DOC Colli of Etruria Centrale includes several municipalities of the provinces of Arezzo, Florence, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato and Siena.
The denomination of origin Colli of Etruria Centrale Red when released for consumption must have the following characteristics:
– Color: ruby ​​red, bright, lively, even of medium intensity;
– Smell: the vinous to fruity, fragrant, fresh and delicate;
– Taste: from dry to sweet, lively, harmonious;
– Minimum total alcohol content: 10,50% vol.
The denomination of origin Colli of Etruria Centrale Pinkish when released for consumption must have the following characteristics:
– Color: pink more or less intense;
– Odor: fruity, fragrant, fresh;
– Taste: from dry to sweet, fresh, lively, fruity;
– Minimum alcohol content: 10,50% vol.
The denomination of origin Colli of Etruria Centrale White when released for consumption must have the following characteristics:
– Color: pale yellow with greenish hues;
– Odor: delicate and fruity;
– Taste: from dry to sweet, fruity, lively, fresh, harmonic;
– Minimum alcohol content: 10% vol.
The denomination of origin Colli of Etruria Centrale Young when released for consumption must have the following characteristics:
– Color: red cherry sometimes purplish, lively;
– Odor: fruity, fresh;
– Flavor: fresh, lively and harmonious;
– Minimum alcohol content: 11% vol.
The denomination of origin Colli of Etruria Centrale Vin Santo and Vin Santo Reserve when released for consumption must have the following characteristics:
– Color: from golden to straw;
– Scent: ethereal, intense, characteristic;
– Taste: dry to sweet, harmonic, velvety, more rounded for the sweet type;
– Minimum alcohol content: 15,50% vol.
The denomination of origin Colli of Etruria Centrale Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice when released for consumption must have the following characteristics:
– Color: from pink to more or less intense amber;
– Scent: ethereal, intense, characteristic;
– Taste: dry to sweet, soft, velvety, round;
– Minimum alcohol content: 16,50% vol.
Grapes:
Colli of Etruria Centrale Red and Pinkish
– Sangiovese: at least 50%;
– Can be used to produce these wines alone or jointly the following grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Tuscany Region, up to a maximum of 50%;
– The presence of white grapes is allowed a maximum of 25%.
Colli of Etruria Centrale White
– Trebbiano Toscano: at least 50%;
– Can be used to produce these wines alone or jointly the following grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Tuscany Region, up to a maximum of 50%;
– The presence of red grapes is allowed a maximum of 15%.
Colli of Etruria Centrale Young
– Sangiovese: at least 50%;
– May contribute to the production of these wines alone or jointly the following grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Tuscany Region, up to a maximum of 50%;
– The presence of white grapes is allowed a maximum of 15%.
Colli of Etruria Centrale Vin Santo and Vin Santo Reserve
– Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca Lunga, alone or together, at least 70%;
– Can be used to produce these wines, either jointly or alone, other varieties suitable for cultivation in the Tuscany Region, up to a maximum of 30%.
Colli of Etruria Centrale Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice (also Reserve)
– Sangiovese: at least 50%;
– Can be used to produce this wine, alone or jointly, the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the context of the Tuscany Region, up to a maximum of 50%.
