DOC 1

The wine Abruzzo joined the official list of typical Italian products with the certification DOC (denomination of controlled origin) that was released October 19, 2012.
Being a DOC certification requires that the entire production process must be carried out in the region of Abruzzo.
The DOC Abruzzo is reserved for wines for the following types: White Abruzzo; Abruzzo Red; Abruzzo Passito Bianco; Abruzzo Passito Rosso; Abruzzo Sparkling White; Abruzzo Sparkling Rosé; Abruzzo Cococciola; Abruzzo Cococciola Superior; Abruzzo Malvasia; Abruzzo Malvasia Superior; Abruzzo Montonico; Abruzzo Montonico Superior; Abruzzo Passerina; Abruzzo Passerina Superior; Abruzzo Pecorino; Abruzzo Pecorino Superior.
The production area of ​​the grapes used to produce wine Abruzzo DOC includes several municipalities of the provinces of Chieti, L’Aquila, Pescara and Teramo.

Grapes:
Abruzzo White
– Abruzzo Trebbiano and / or Tuscan: minimum 50%. They can compete grapes of other non-aromatic white grapes suitable for cultivation in the Abruzzo region, alone or together, up to a maximum of 50%, usual in the business.
Abruzzo Red
– Montepulciano: minimum 80%. They can compete grapes of other non-aromatic black grapes suitable for cultivation in the Abruzzo region, alone or together, up to a maximum of 20%, usual in the business.
Abruzzo Passito White
– Malvasia, Moscato, Passerina, Pecorino, Riesling, Sauvignon, Traminer alone or in combination: at least 60%. They can compete grapes of other varieties suitable for cultivation in the Abruzzo region, alone or together, up to a maximum of 40%, usual in the business.
Abruzzo Passito Red
– Montepulciano: minimum 60%. They can compete grapes of other varieties suitable for cultivation in the region Abruzzo, alone or together, up to a maximum of 40%, usual in the business.
Abruzzo Sparkling White
– Chardonnay, Cococciola, Montonico, Passerina, Pecorino, Pinot Noir alone or in combination: at least 60%. They can compete grapes of other varieties suitable for cultivation in the Abruzzo region, alone or together, up to a maximum of 40%, usual in the business.
Abruzzo Sparkling Rosé

Denominations of Origin: Cococciola Abruzzo, Abruzzo Cococciola Superior, Abruzzo Malvasia, Malvasia Superior Abruzzo, Abruzzo Montonico, Abruzzo Montonico Superior, Passerina Abruzzo, Abruzzo Passerina Superior, Abruzzo Pecorino and Abruzzo Pecorino Superior, are reserved for wines made from grapes vineyards consist of at least 85% from the corresponding vines.
