Trebbiano d’Abruzzo joined the official list of typical Italian products with the certification DOC (denomination of controlled origin) that was released August 25, 1972.
Being a DOC certification requires that the entire production process must be carried out in the region of Abruzzo.
The DOC Trebbiano d’Abruzzo is reserved for white wines Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo Superior and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo Reserve.
The production area of ​​the grapes used to produce wine Trebbiano d’Abruzzo DOC includes vineyards in the provinces of Chieti, L’Aquila, Pescara and Teramo.
The types allowed are:
Trebbiano d’Abruzzo
– Color: straw yellow;
– Odor: Characteristic with intense and delicate;
– Taste: dry, savory, velvety, harmonious;
– Minimum alcohol content: 11,50% vol.
Trebbiano d’Abruzzo Superior
– Color: straw yellow;
– Odor: Characteristic with intense and delicate;
– Taste: dry, velvety, harmonious with pleasant almond aftertaste;
– Minimum alcohol content: 12% vol.
Trebbiano d’Abruzzo Reserve
– Color: straw yellow;
– Odor: Characteristic with intense and delicate;
– Taste: dry, velvety, harmonious with pleasant almond aftertaste;
– Minimum alcohol content: 12,50% vol.
Grapes:
– Abruzzo Trebbiano and / or Bombino Bianco and / or Trebbiano Toscano at least 85%;
– Can compete grapes of other non-aromatic white grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the entire territory of the region Abruzzo, alone or together, up to a maximum of 15%.
Serving temperature: around 8 ° C – 10 ° C.
Serving suggestions: ideal with fish, macaroni of Abruzzo, white meat.
