The Cantuccini or Cantucci Toscani joined the official list of the typical Italian products thanks to PGI (protected geographical indication) that was released on 19 January 2016.
Being a PGI certification requires that at least one phase of the production process must be carried out in the region of Tuscany.
The denomination Cantuccini or Cantucci Toscani PGI is the product name confectionery obtained by processing a dough made of flour, whole natural almond (unpeeled), sugar, eggs, butter, honey, then baked in the oven.
When released for consumption, the product presents a traditional shape semi – oval, obtained by the diagonal cut of the lodging after cooking and a weight not exceeding 15 grams each.
The dimensions are not greater than 10 cm in length, 3 cm in height and 2.8 cm in width.
The consistency of the Cantuccini or Cantucci Toscani PGI is slightly crunchy, initially grainy, but that melts in your mouth for the use of butter.
