The Grapes of Puglia joined the official list of typical Italian products with the certification PGI (protected geographical indication) that was released July 25, 2012.
Being a product of PGI certification requires that at least one phase of the production process should be carried out in the region of Puglia.
The production area of Puglia Grapes PGI includes the territories of 126 municipalities in the region Puglia placed on an elevation of not more than 330 meters above sea level in the provinces of Bari, Foggia, Brindisi and Taranto.
The PGI Grapes of Puglia is devoted to varieties of table, Italy, Michele Palieri, Red Globe, and Queen Victoria.
And ‘characterized by clusters of not less than 300 grams, from grapes calibration of not less than 21 mm for Victoria, 15 mm for the Queen, to 22 mm for Italy, Michele Palieri and Red globe.
The color is straw yellow varieties Italy, and Queen Victoria, a deep velvety black varieties Michele Palieri and a rose for the variety Red Globe.
