The White Celery of Sperlonga becomes part of the official list of typical Italian products with the certification PGI (protected geographical indication) that was released on March 18, 2010.
Being a product of PGI certification requires that at least one phase of the production process should be carried out in the region of Lazio.
Protected Geographical Indication White Celery of Sperlonga is reserved exclusively to white celery ecotype of Sperlonga which satisfies the conditions and requirements established by the product specification.
Lazio is the ranking among the Italian regions in the production of celery from the coast and, in particular, in first place in terms of cultivated area under shelter concentrated in the province of Latina, especially in the towns of Sperlonga and Funds.
ll White Celery of Sperlonga PGI is characterized by the persistence of its physical properties and aromatic, however it is recommended store it in a cool place to keep it at its best, in order to avoid exposure of the product to sunlight and rupture of the stems and tissues. Thanks to its sweet and slightly aromatic, is very suitable for fresh consumption, in vinaigrette or in combination with the blue fish.
