The Pachino tomato becomes part of the official list of typical Italian products with the certification PGI (protected geographical indication) that was released on April 5, 2003.
Being a product of PGI certification requires that at least one phase of the production process should be carried out in the region of Sicily.
The production area of ​​Pachino tomato PGI includes the entire municipality of Pachino and Pachino and part of the municipalities in the Province of Syracuse Noto and Ispica in Ragusa Province.
Tomato Pachino PGI has for many years now appreciated by Italian and foreign consumers for its specific quality characteristics, which make it easily recognizable compared to other similar products on the market. The taste and flavor of the pulp, as well as its texture, are definitely the main quality that has made it so successful. But other aspects, secondary but no less decisive, as the intense color, crispness and brightness of the skin should not be underestimated.

Great resistance to splitting. It has a firm texture and flavorful. And ‘particularly suitable for stuffing cooked in the oven, or in sauces expressed, but also great for salad. It comes in clusters of 5-8 fruits, with average size of 100-150 grams. The taste has a good balance between acids and sugars. Excellent shelf life even out of the fridge. The collection is made when all the fruits of the bunch have turned to red.
