The Pistachio Bronte Green joined the official list of typical Italian products with the certification PDO (protected designation of origin) that was released January 13, 2010.
Being a product PDO certification requires that the entire production process must be carried out in the region of Sicily.
Sicily is the only Italian region where it produces the pistachio, and Bronte, the town of Etna with over three thousand hectares in special crops, expresses the area’s main crop (more than 80% of the regional area) with a production by characteristics.
A fruit taste and a universally recognized as unique and special and an emerald green mean that the Bronte Pistachio Green PDO is called “green gold”, it is the main economic resource of the vast territory of the town of Etna.
