The Brovada becomes part of the official list of typical Italian products with the certification PDO (protected designation of origin) that was released on November 8, 2011.
Being a product PDO certification requires that the entire production process must be carried out in the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The production area of ​​Brovada PDO is included in the census and administrative territory of the municipalities in the provinces of Gorizia, Pordenone and Udine.
The Brovada PDO is the product obtained by transformation of turnip collared white violet, “turnip brovada”, through a process of maceration and fermentation in grape skins.
Its preparation is exclusive area enclosed within the territory of the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The PDO Brovada the taste is crisp and elastic consistency, never hard, with a sour taste and a pungent aroma and distinctive grape marc. The color is creamy white to pink or pinkish or red depending on the characteristics of the grape used.
